Deadline to Apply for Hamilton County Energy Bill Assistance Is September 19

Hamilton County residents struggling with high utility costs still have time to apply for home energy bill assistance, but the deadline is quickly approaching.

The 2024–2025 Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) will close applications on Friday, September 19, 2025.

This federal program provides financial help for income-eligible families in Hamilton County, helping them stay on top of rising household energy bills.

How to Apply for Energy Assistance

Residents can apply in two ways:

  • In person: Submit applications at the Office of Family Empowerment, 6098 Debra Road, Chattanooga.

Important note: The Office of Family Empowerment will be closed Sept. 22–30, 2025 for annual in-service training. During this period, residents in need can contact United Way 2-1-1 for support.
